2024-25 Manchester United Squad Overview:

In terms of goalkeepers, the team has retained last season’s setup. In defense, Varane left the team this summer on a free transfer to newly-promoted Serie A club Como. Varane’s departure prompted United to look for replacements. French young defender Yoro had been a target for Real Madrid, but unfortunately, Yoro was injured during the preseason and will miss at least three months. Yoro’s injury has led the team to search for additional defenders. Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, who both worked with Ten Hag at Ajax, have reunited with him. With Mazraoui’s arrival, Wan-Bissaka left the club and joined West Ham.

In midfield, Casemiro was once affected by transfer rumors due to his age and declining form, with clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey interested. However, Casemiro ultimately decided to stay at Manchester United. To strengthen the midfield and find a partner for Mainoo, Ugarte became United’s top target. Negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain lasted for a month, and Ugarte eventually joined United. To raise funds for Ugarte’s transfer, United sold McTominay to Napoli.

Up front, Martial left the club after his contract expired, leaving Højlund as the team’s only center-forward. To provide healthy competition for Højlund, United were linked with strikers like Osimhen and Dzekovrayish, but due to budget constraints, they ultimately signed Joshua Zirkzee. Sancho joined Chelsea on loan with a buyout option.
